Face the Facts

The purpose of Face the
Facts is to present the group with some statistics from postmodern society,
and then take a look into God's Word to see what God has to say about the
problem.
All scripture is taken from the New Living Translation of the Bible by Tyndale
House. Each lesson is designed to last about 15-25 minutes, depending on the
level of interest shown by the students.

What does God say about divorce?
1. ________ ___________ ___________. Malachi 2:16 – “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. “It is as cruel as putting on a victim’s bloodstained coat,” says the Lord God almighty, “So guard yourself. Always remain faithful to your wife.”
2. _____ ____________ _____________ ____ _______ ________ ____ ______________. Matthew 5:32 – “But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.”

As a teen, what can you do to protect yourself from divorce?
-Date only Christians. Over 75% of all Christian/non-Christian marriages wind up in divorce, while only 40% of Christian marriages wind up divorced.

Why do you think so many marriages end in divorce? Communication, finances, how to raise the children, people think that marriage is easier than it really is.
What does God say about divorce?
1. God hates divorce! Malachi 2:16 – “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. “It is as cruel as putting on a victim’s bloodstained coat,” says the Lord God almighty, “So guard yourself. Always remain faithful to your wife.”
2. No divorce except in the case of adultery. Matthew 5:32 – “But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.”
3. Husband and wife are
bound together until death separates them.
Romans 7:2 – “When a woman marries, the law binds her to her husband as long
as he is alive. But if he dies, the laws of marriage no longer apply
to her.”

2. Unbelievers will lead
believers astray. Exodus 34:16 – “And you will
accept their daughters, who worship other gods, as wives for your sons.
They will cause your sons to commit adultery against me by worship-ping other
gods.”
3. God will punish those
believers that marry unbelievers. Joshua 23:
12-13 – “But if you...intermarry with the survivors of these nations remaining
among you, then know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive
them out from your land. Instead they will be a snare to you…and you
will be wiped out from this good land the Lord has given you.”
